Dodged a Bullet (lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) I dodged a bullet once again And I don’t know what’s coming up around the bend. I’m living on borrowed time I wish I could get it off my mind I thank my friends…I dodged the bullet once again I wake up in the morning not sure I’m gonna get out of bed Life is out of my hands, so it don’t make much sense The bottle is a calling me to be his friend He says your never gonna beat this thing…but I don’t listen to him I’ve had worries and I’ve lost friends And I can tell you, it all really adds up in the end It’s a human frailty … we may never meet again I dodged the bullet once again I’m off the hook and I’m on the mend I dodged the bullet one more time I dodged the bullet in the end We are never happy with what we got We want the whole damn pot And I’m left to ponder what is the point of it all I had some worries before and now it’s out control I’m here to tell you friend, don’t waste your time worrying cos it won’t ever end. I’ve lost worries and I’ve found friends And I can tell you, it all really adds up in the end It’s a human frailty … we may see it again I dodged the bullet once again I’m off the hook and I’m on the mend I dodged the bullet one more time I dodged the bullet in the end

One More Day 05:10
One More Day (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) It’s half past one in the morning and I’m outside staring up into the night I don’t know who I’m praying to I’m out here looking for a shining light I feel my life’s a failure I don’t wanna die before my time I don’t wanna say I’m sorry Gimme me one more day Gimme one more day of living Gimme one more day of life Gimme one more day with the living And I know that I’ll always want more, Gimme one more day of life Two years on from that dark night And I’m still here to tell you of my fight They cut my flesh and burned my bones Put poison in my blood and then they fed me stones They say you can’t keep a good man down But I wasn’t ready to give up And I’m not ready to say goodbye Gimme one more day of life Gimme one more day of living Gimme one more day of life Gimme one more day with the living And I know that I’ll always want more, Gimme one more day of life

Sleeping Dogs (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) Don’t look back on the day you died Keep on moving all the time Let the sleeping dogs lie You can look yourself in the eye & learn to say goodbye Sometimes you gotta let sleeping dogs lie Sometimes you gotta look the future in the eye Sometimes you gotta let Sleeping Dogs lie Sometimes the proof of the pudding is in the pie Don’t look back until you die Keeping on moving and stay alive Don’t look back yeah Let the sleeping dogs lie Keep on moving all the time Until the end of time Don’t look back… Don’t look back Let the sleeping dogs lie

You Oughtta Know (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) I started writing this song a long time ago I should have finished by now I couldn’t let it go You know that I won’t quit I tell you I won’t quit You oughtta know Woe oh you oughtta know I started playing this guitar a long time ago I’m still playing it now 30 years down the road You know that it won’t quit – It’s such a sweet little stick I know that it won’t quit – I can’t let it go And you oughtta know We started doing this band 10 years ago We’re still together now, not sure where we’re going You know that we won’t quit We’re gonna play some new riffs Yeah we won’t quit cos it’s in our soul you oughta know Woe oh oh yeah, you’re my danger and my failure Woe oh oh you oughtta know Woe oh, you’re my danger and my failure Woe oh oh you oughtta know Woe oh oh yeah, you’re my danger and my saviour Woe oh oh you oughtta know
5.
Find the Words (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) I’ve got something to tell you, if I can find the words You know that I know I love you but I fear the worst I’ve got something to tell you, it’s not good news I’ll try not to hurt you baby if I can find the words If I can find the words to tell this to you It’s not good news and I can’t find the words To say to you Talk to me now baby And I’ll tell you all about My problems in this world And how they came about Talk to me now baby I’ve got something to tell you, it’s not good news I don’t want to hurt you baby, but I can’t find the words I can’t find the words
6.
The Fall of Rome (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) I close my eyes and dream of the glory of Rome And I can see the fallen ruins of my life The love we made echoes on through the pantheon Reflected in the moon above, it lives on for years to come You can still see the faded glory of Rome It’s legends echo on, reflecting in your eyes my love If you close your eyes you will see my time has come But our love will live on in the tears of our young I’ve seen the fall of Rome It lies in ruins now That’s how I am today Now you have had your way I have seen the fall of Rome I have dreamed the fall Have you seen the fall of Rome The lonely beauty of this world echoes on Although to some it’s only fallen ruins and broken cups The love we made carries on long after we give up Reflecting in the moon above for years to come Just like the fall of Rome Our love it will live on Even though I’ve come and gone We’ll live for years to come Our love it will live on. Just like the ruins of Rome In your heart I will live on In your hearts I will live on

Nobody Knows 04:19
Nobody Knows (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) You disappeared and nobody was told
When you lost your way all those years ago
And now you tell me you can’t find your way Find your way back home Nobody Knows Nobody knows where you have gone Stories get told but the truth is no one really knows Where it was you went to sing on your own Nobody knows where you’ve gone Nobody knows what you found Nobody knows What you found Nobody knows what went down… In recent times I can never find my way My spirit’s lost and my hair has turned all grey And I’m trying to find my way
And nobody knows Only you and you alone
Can find your way back home Nobody Knows Only you and you alone
8.
Stop Running Away (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) I’m on the right side of the dirt I got lost in a maze and the way was blurred I was running away from all that hurt Trying to stay on the right side of the dirt Ohhh oh and I cried, in the morning I wished it would be alright But there was no end in sight I’m running away from the outside world And the things out there that wanna make you hurt The heart wants what the heart wants And you don’t have any say in the end You’ll find love if you stop running Stop running away Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks I never learnt about love and how to give back So stop running away from the ones you love They’ll keep you from the wrong side of the dirt The heart wants what the heart wants And you don’t have any say in the end You’ll find love and stop running Stop running away
9.
Here Come the Bats (Lyrics by Stewart Cunningham) The Words go a bit like this When the words I want they don’t exist Is anybody listening at all Is anybody listening and do they understand When I call, do they understand Do the words mean nothing at all And the words they disappear, just like my tears They disappear and they don’t mean nothing at all The words go a bit like this And the meaning is always missed Does anybody listen at all Do the words count anymore and Here come the bats Rising up from their secret places Here come the Bats Does anybody see them Does anybody listen To these words that I sing from my soul Do they mean anything at all To the world outside these doors And do they mean what they say When will they mean something to us all?

about

Silver & Black is our 6th Album. It is out now on vinyl, CD and digital through Golden Robot Records and they have kindly agreed to us making it available through Bandcamp as well.

The story of Silver & Black began not long after the career high of our first tour of Europe in October 2017. I fell ill and was shockingly diagnosed with lung cancer. Following almost 2 years of treatment that included losing one of my lungs and a long, uncertain recovery the band began to try and regroup, not even knowing whether I would be able to play and sing again. Slowly and somewhat miraculously, things fell in to place in the isolation (and therapy) of the rehearsal room and then in and around Covid and lockdowns we managed to write and record this new album at Garth Porters Rancom Street Studio in Sydney with Brent Clark producing. Finally, with the album in the can and after an almost 4 year absence from the stage we even returned to play live again in June 2021. More pandemic stuff happened to delay this release but Silver & Black coming out today marks the final step in our own small triumph over serious adversity...and it's our best sounding album yet!! A lot of work and patience went into making this album so thanks for listening. We hope it connects with you in some small way. Life is short so make the most of it, do the things you love.
