I Belong to the Band was originally released as a CD EP (with bonus live and rehearsal tracks) on December 1st 2011 through Impedance Records in a limited edition of 100 numbered and signed CD copies. It was only available at gigs or directly from the band and has now SOLD OUT.
Drawing inspiration from touring through some of Australia’s best known venues and from some favourite live covers by artists as diverse (in genre and time) as The Replacements, Rory Gallagher and The Rev Gary Davis – Leadfinger released a little EP of songs in late 2011 that celebrates and revels in the grittiness of playing in a band.
I Belong to the Band is the epilogue to the band’s previous album We Make the Music and takes the listener into the world of Leadfinger where the song and delivery are every bit as important as the next gig, truck stop or the next beer. From the belting 70’s power of opening original WHAT DID YOU SEE IN ME? with it’s KISS-like hooks and unerring Stones like riffage through a cracking cover of The Replacements CAN’T HARDLY WAIT and the closing delta blues of title track I BELONG TO THE BAND – a re-working of a Rev Gary Davis classic from the last century… this hand hewn rock’n’roll set is complete with ‘ashtray floors, dirty clothes and filthy jokes’ and played by a bunch of guys who know what can be done with a riff, a guitar and the right beat. Two new originals – DECEMBER RUNAWAY and LEADFINGER THEME (aka Crank it Up – a riff that harks back to the MC5’s finest moments) break up the high energy stuff. An epic cover of Rory Gallagher’s glorious homage to the circus life – TATTOO’D LADY rounds out the best value 6 pack you ever drank.
I Belong to the Band is a great collection of songs about playing in a rock’n’roll band and tells it all with a wink and a nod. Before the end of the first track you’ll be turning up the volume and punching your fist in celebration as you dream of hitting that long highway.

"Every song on ’Silver & Black is a winner, each rich with colour and diversity. It stands as the Leadfinger magnum opus -
and it should rightfully open new doors for the band."
