Pretty Thing (Written by Stewart Cunningham) She’s such a pretty thing, we’re loving her thing She’s such a pretty thing, watching her swing They follow her around all over that town She’s such a pretty thing, I love to hear her sing Such a pretty girl wo oh wo Such a pretty girl….A diamond and a pearl Such a pretty girl wo oh wo Such a pretty girl….She’s a ruling my world She’s such a pretty thing, we’re loving her thing She’s such a pretty thing, watching her swing They follow her around all over that town She’s such a pretty thing, she’s a beautiful sound She’s ruling my world She’s ruling your world She rules the whole world What’s that you say, She’s coming my way I can tell her anything that I want to say She’s coming my way She’s such a pretty thing, we’re loving her thing She’s such a pretty thing, we love to hear her sing They follow her around the boys in this town She’s all that I sing, she’s wearing my ring

All the Action (Written by Chris Wilson) Now all the Action has been shakin All the good things they have been taken Now this world is hard to get a break in When your souls so weary and your heart that’s achin All you need is to bust out at full speed Dig what I say or Lady Luck will catch you napping It’s up to you to make it happen Now we come so far and it’s been so long And we still can’t see that we belong Well we can’t go back the way we came No we’re never going back again All you need is to bust out at full speed Dig what I say or Lady Luck will catch you napping It’s up to you to make it happen. Solo The time to hesitate is passed Or our fate is sealed you know damn well Now you better change your ways and fast Or we’re all going straight to hell

Poor Man’s Boogie (Written by Stewart Cunningham) The 99% were out in the streets today They wanna have their say The 99% were marching in anger today They finally realised things ain’t going their way They got something to say Yeah – We’re gonna make you pay Oh yeah In the meantime they were doing the boogie Meanwhile they were doing the poor mans boogie The poor man’s boogie is a vicious dance White collar criminals borrow their the cash They take it and gamble and stock markets crash It’s a rich man’s folly and it’s based on chance, And they always get away No, this time - they won’t get away Yeah – we’re gonna make them pay This time they won’t get away My sisters going she’s so mean Mothers got her own enemy My brothers bringing the guitar army Tired of having them lean on me The mans always leaning on me Gonna bring em down to their knees Tired of having them lean on me Sick of having em lean on me We gonna bring em down to their knees We’re gonna bring em to their knees The 99 per cent were marching in anger today They finally realised things ain’t going their way And they got something to say Tired of watching the world crumble and decay Watching the world crumble and decay In the meantime they were doing the boogie Meanwhile they’re still doing the poor mans boogie Oh yeah – we’re gonna make you pay!

Behind the Wall of Sleep (Written by P.Dinizio) She had hair like Jeannie Shrimpton, back in 1965! She had legs that never ended, I was halfway paralyzed. She was tall and cool and pretty, And she dressed as black as coal. If she'd ask me to I'd murder, I would gladly lose my soul! Now I lie in bed and think of her, Sometimes I even weep. Then I dream of her, behind the wall of sleep. Well she'd held a bass guitar and She was playing in a band. And she stood just like Bill Wyman, Now I am her biggest fan. Now I know I'm one of many who Would like to be your friend, And I've got to find a way To let you know I'm not like them! Now I lie in bed and think of her, Sometimes I even weep. Then I dream of her, behind the wall of sleep. Got your number from a friend of mine, Who lives in your hometown. Called you up to have a drink, Your roommate said you weren't around. Now I know I'm one of many Who would like to be your friend, And I've got to find a way to Let you know I'm not like them!

about

Ripped Genes & Analogue Dreams was originally released on 24th November 2012 as a seven song CD EP in a limited edition run of 100 copies only, all signed and numbered. The CD was available at gigs only and via mail order from the band. The CD version is sold out.

After a busy year in 2011 promoting and touring their 3rd album, We Make the Music, Leadfinger spent the best part of the 2012 writing and recording a stack of new tracks at Sydney’s Def Wolf studio before adding the finishing touches at Leadfinger’s own Rendezvous Studio in the sleepy backwater town of Helensburgh, south of Sydney.

With the resulting album, No Room at the Inn set for release in February 2013 the band wanted to give their loyal fans and the curious out there an appetiser which lead to the self-release of a sneak preview EP titled Ripped Genes & Analogue Dreams featuring a track from the album, three non album originals and a clutch of obscure covers loved by the band.

Well known around the world for keeping alive the flame of classic Sydney hi-energy rock’n’roll, Ripped Genes & Analogue Dreams see’s Leadfinger take a sideways step to showcase their passion and prowess at the classic genre of power-pop rock’n’roll a la The Flamin Groovies, The Replacements, Danny and the Champs, Tom Petty and The Smithereens!

Album track – PRETTY THING kicks the EP off in a flash of power pop rock that harks back to The La’s ‘There She Goes’ and a nod to the Big O’s ‘Pretty Woman’, before launching into a stirring version of ALL THE ACTION – written by ex-Flamin Groovies frontman Chris Wilson as a follow up to his classic SHAKE SOME ACTION! Articulate and literate bunch that these Leadfinger boys are – as evidenced by the title of this EP, the band veer into social commentary on new originals – POOR MAN’S BOOGIE, INDIANS AND LEFT WING XMAS – the bands take on recent social events like the GFC, Occupy Movement, shock jocks, Media ethics and Julian Assange, delivered with wit and rock’n’roll hooks. The limited edtion CD version of the EP is rounded out with Leadfinger versions of T-Rex and Smithereens classics for the lucky few who bought the CD version.
