Champagne & Diamonds (Written by Stewart Cunningham) Champagne and diamonds Two sisters of love and hate Bittersweet like salt & Lemons They go together like sin and fate And you can take the easy way out Or you can take long way around Champagne & Diamonds You try to find the balance A little danger keeps you alive Safe and sound is alright for some Now I wanna have my fun And you can take the easy way out See what comes along Life can’t always be Champagne and diamonds Life can’t always be What you want it to be It’s what you need It won’t turn out to be what you want it to be …but it’s what you need

Heart on My Sleeve (Written by Stewart Cunningham) I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve It’s so easy for you to see Will it make you believe, believe in me I’ll let you see the real me I’m wearing my heart on sleeve I want you to believe in me I’m wearing my heart on sleeve I want you to be with me I’ve got plenty to hide Many times in life I’ve lied I feel ashamed of mistakes I’ve made I can look you in the eye Don’t be quick to judge my name Life is not so black and white Nor is it wrong or right To wear you heart on your sleeve What can I say or do To make you believe in me Should I tear my heart out Just to prove I bleed Ask myself do I have Anything you need Do you judge me On my name or on my deed I’m wearing my heart…on my sleeve I’m wearing your heart on my sleeve I want you to believe in me I’m wearing your heart on my sleeve I’m your man and proud to be I’m wearing your heart on my sleeve I’m wearing your heart

Mean Streak 03:55
Mean Streak (Written by Stewart Cunningham) Something don’t seem right But I keep it to myself In the end I’m not always right But I ain’t like anybody else Yeah I’ve got a mean streak I don’t want to seem weak You try and deceive me You’ll find out what I mean Yeah I’ve got a mean streak Something don’t seem right But I bury it deep inside In the end I’m not always right But I keep it to myself They say I’ve got a mean streak I’m trying not to be so weak The good, the bad, the ugly Are all part of me You try and be yourself Don’t be like everybody else I promise to be good to you They say I’ve got a mean streak I don’t want to seem weak You try and deceive me You’ll find out what I mean I’ve got a mean streak
4.
Bite My Tongue (Written by Stewart Cunningham) I bite my tongue Your lack of loyalty is second to none You tell me one thing on Monday Then on a Tuesday it’s a different story You have no shame And will happily kiss the arse of those Who humilate me But I bite my tongue I take what comes I bite my tongue your day will come I bite my tongue I bide my time I bide my time I see through your game you step on the people in your way You lie so much That you forget all those tales A weathervane, changes each day Depends on the wind and the money you can make Just like you it’s a shifting game But I bite my Tongue I take what comes I bite my tongue your day will come Yeah I bite my tongue Your day has come your race is run Your game is done Your day has come
5.
Raining in the Dark (Written by Stewart Cunningham) It’s raining in the dark You see her walking by Tears well in her eyes You can’t see them fall Cos it’s raining in the dark And it’s raining in her heart And her world is torn apart It’s raining in the dark She walks into the night and her love fades from view you can’t look her in the eye When she turns to face you And it’s raining in her heart As she fades into the dark And your world falls apart Our love it has died and now We must both walk alone Our love it has died and now She must cry on her own It’s raining in the dark
6.
Older & Wiser (Written by Stewart Cunningham) Older and wiser Higher and higher Fighting the fighters Wilder and wilder You can be like the walking dead You can be like a zombie You can live a life that gets you ahead You can live a life that makes you dead Older and wiser Brighter and brighter Faster and louder Braver than we should have been Life can be like a tv scene You can star in your own dvd You can be what they want you to be Or you can be whatever you please Running wild in the streets Older and wiser Shoulder to shoulder Fighter the fighters Braver than we shoulda been You can be like the walking dead You can be like a zombie You can live a life that gets you ahead You can sit at home and pretend you’re dead But you’re older and wiser to me

The Man I Used to Be (Written by Stewart Cunningham) The wheel of fortune makes no sound You cannot see it turning round The fortune teller has no say When you will see your final day Your journey takes a thousand days It’s true what I say here The Man I used to be Is gone forever he is The man I used to be A tragic-comedy The man I used to be Is gone forever he is Have you ever met a man who’s free Everybody thinks it so easy You can join the middle class zombies You can’t change the world so run with me You can’t change the world for free But you can change your destiny Your journey takes a thousand days It’s true what I say here The Man I used to be Is gone forever he is The man I used to be A tragic-comedy The man I used to be Is gone forever he is The man I used to be

Friday Night Heroes (Written by Stewart Cunningham) We’re all Friday night heroes Riding one trick ponies All playing in the same old front bar tonight Tonight we’re like Friday night heroes Riding one trick ponies Small town superstars tonight And when the ride takes over I feel a weight off my shoulders When the night is over I think of all the things I should of told her But the Friday night heroes are keeping it tight The Friday night heroes are doing alright, tonight Well some of us feel like has beens And some of us are never beens But we all keep turning up for one more hit Well the guitars look like they’ve been played alright And the frets no longer shine as bright Truth is they never sounded any better than this And when the ride takes over I feel a weight off my shoulders When the night is over I think of all the things I should of told her But the Friday night heroes are keeping it tight The Friday night heroes are doing alright Yeah they’re doing alright, tonight And the crowds are so much smaller And the time between drinks gets longer But they all keep turning up for one more drink And this town seems so quiet at times But on Friday night it comes alive Well we talk about the old days And remember friends who passed away The ghosts of the past Are invited to join us on this stage

Appreciate 02:44
Appreciate (Written by Stewart Cunningham) Appreciate everything you’ve got Appreciate everything you’re not Got no need to work my day is done I’m sitting here strumming my guitar in the sun Little doggy sleeping at my feet Four year old daughter laughing as I speak Appreciate everything you’ve got I appreciate everything I’ve got Yes it won’t be long before I drop And people will say everything that I was not He didn’t appreciate all the things he got He didn’t appreciate, no he did not Oh but they are wrong I know just what I got I sing this song so that you will understand Nothing lasts forever, nothing is ever planned Next week you could be six feet underground Make sure today you enjoy being around Appreciate everything you’ve got Appreciate that’s the shot

My Own Road 03:25
My Own Road (Written by Stewart Cunningham) We pulled into Kalamzoo I met two girls, they said they knew you They told me they were from Waxahachie They’re both gone now so suddenly I’m my own man on my own road Retrace my steps to find my way back home I’m my own man on my own road Those that know don't tell And those who tell don't know. Strike the tent, blow out the coals I’m my own man on my own road I’m not bought and sold I got them worn out soles It’s just a heart and soul On my own road She takes a compliment It always earn the rent She put me on a train out of my brain I’m trying to get back to Wooloomooloo When your times up there’s nothing you can do I’m my own man on my own road Retrace my steps to find my way back home I’m my my own man on my own road Wandering down these dusty old own roads I’m my own man on my own road Those that know don't tell And those who tell don't know. Strike a the tent, blow out the coals I’m my own man on my own road Not bought and sold I got them worn out soles I got that heart and soul It’s just a rock’n’roll It’s just a heart and soul On my own road

about

"There's no filler on "Friday Night Heroes", not a single wasted note, everything fits like the sparkles in a well-cut diamond. 'Friday Night Heroes' is one of my few favourite lps of 2016, and it'll be playing to admirers and cut-throats and dancers and musicians long after we're all damned dust."
7 Stars "Robert Brokenmouth" I94-bar

After almost a decade of developing their own style of rock’n’roll, Wollongong/Sydney based Leadfinger release their 5th album…the desire remains as the journey continues with the same 4-piece line-up that has stuck solid since 2008. Over the years Leadfinger have built a reputation for dynamic, twin guitar rock and heart on sleeve delivery of quality songs and on Friday Night Heroes they pushed their musicianship, sound and writing into new realms by bringing in some guest players and changing the method of writing to a more direct ‘in the rehearsal room’ approach.

The songs for Friday Night Heroes were recorded in mid to late 2015 (after 18 months of songwriting and development) at Sydney’s Linear Recording with Wade Keighran (Wolf & Cub, Steve Smyth Band) behind the controls.
